Weather Cameras Partnerships

Camera Host & Sponsor Program

Alabama Scanner is building a practical live-camera network for broad sky, roadway, and community-condition views across Northwest Alabama.

Future cameras should support the Live Center by adding broad weather and road context without turning private spaces into public surveillance.

What makes a useful public weather camera

Cameras should add broad public awareness without pointing into private spaces or exposing identifiable private activity.

What Makes a Useful Weather View

The most helpful views show approaching sky conditions, public road impacts, or a broad community landmark without pointing into private homes, yards, windows, license plates, or places where people reasonably expect privacy.

Planned Coverage Priorities

Priority areas include Marion County, Lamar County, Winston County, and nearby towns where a camera could improve storm awareness, road-condition awareness, or public visibility during major weather and community events.

Sponsor Local Coverage

Sponsors can help support weather visibility for communities that need better live situational awareness during storms and other local events.

Where camera views will fit

Approved camera views can eventually support the Weather Center, community board, public road awareness, and severe-weather context. Cameras should complement scanner and weather data, not replace official alerts or emergency instructions.
