This page is for broad public-safe scanner alerts. Routine scanner activity stays on the Listen page so major incidents are easier to understand.
Why only some scanner activity appears here
The alerts page is reserved for major public-safe scanner summaries, not every routine call heard on the radio. A scanner alert may appear when activity is broad enough to affect public awareness, such as a large public safety response, road hazard, fire, weather impact, outage, or community safety concern.
What is intentionally left out
Alerts use broad location wording and avoid exact private addresses, private names, license information, sensitive medical details, allegations, and tactical response information. This keeps the page useful for local awareness without exposing people involved in an active or private incident.
Scanner alerts are not official confirmation
Scanner traffic often starts with early dispatch information. Details can change after responders arrive, investigate, or move to another channel. Treat these alerts as a prompt to stay aware, then use official agencies, EMA, schools, utilities, or road departments for instructions and confirmation.
An empty page can be good news
If no active scanner alerts are shown, Alabama Scanner has no major public-safe incident summary to display at that moment. Routine scanner activity may still be heard on the Listen page, and weather warnings remain available on the Weather page.
Use the right alert center
This page is for scanner-related public-safety awareness. Weather watches and warnings belong in the Weather Center, where radar and NWS alert polygons provide the correct weather context.
